2013 can be summed up for Nonpoint as a comeback year after having played several major festivals around the USA and touring nonstop, since the release of their self-titled album in 2012.

Libertyville, IL was a homecoming for guitarist, Dave Lizzio, Rasheed Thomas, and Adam Woloszyn who have grown up around the area and played in local bands before joining Nonpoint. Along with singer, Elias Soriano and drummer, Robb Rivera, basing themselves out of the Chicagoland area, there were family members in attendance along with Elias and Robb’s beautiful daughters.

Over the last few years, there have been many bands I have covered - from huge arenas to small bars -but there is something about seeing a Nonpoint show live. I have been lucky to see Nonpoint play a few years ago with the new line up for their first show and since then, seen them grow in to a very tight group and exploring the Nonpoint catalog of music, as many nights they have a different setlist. There is this electric energy in the air, familiar faces in the crowd and a band that pours every ounce of energy they have on to the stage. Tonight was no exception with a full crowd looking to give back as much energy, as they opened with Lights, Camera, Action.

Playing a full headlining set allowed them to dig deep in their 7 major label released albums to date. This was evident with hearing for the first time, H.I.V.E. which sounded great.

By the time they got to playing one of my favorite songs, Hands Off, the crowd was fully into it as they jumped, moshed and sang along as their heads whipped back and forth.

Elias has a way to inviting the crowd to participate and feel they are a part of the show; for sure my top 10 front men in rock. At one point Elias mentioned to the crowd they had a special a guest, someone they might know as this fan has been to so many shows and tonight was his 150th show. Just when I thought my 30 something shows was a lot, just goes to show the dedication fans have for Nonpoint.

Lizzio could not keep his feet on the stage as he jumped up and down during That Day, along with Woloszyn and Thomas throwing their heads as if their bobble heads.

Drummer, Rivera is a beast on his drum kit. While he may not be considered a technical drummer, he keeps the music in time and on beat as if had a strangle hold. It was fun to watch him as he beats the hell out of the skins, and walks around his drums.

Playing close to 1 ½ hour, they ended with head slammer, There’s Going to Be a War, Alive and Kicking, and Bullet with a Name. Nonpoint is out on tour headlining as well as opening for Megadeth and Fear Factory.

If you’re a fan of great rock music and a live show, I am willing to bet you will not be disappointed checking them out.
