Michael Schenker opens his tour and celebrates his Birthday in Las Vegas!

Michael Schenker got his new Temple of Rock Bridge the Gap tour off to a flying start at the Las Vegas Country Saloon (LVCS) on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, as the fans were packed against the stage to see one of the greatest guitarist in hard rock kick off a mighty tour with a new lineup and a new cd. On top of it being opening night, as Schenker and his Temple cast took the stage a little after midnight, it was also Schenker’s 59th birthday, and he celebrated in style with a rowdy crowd and a commanding start to the new tour. This time around Schenker’s lineup held vocalist Doogie White in the ranks, who has formerly graced the stages singing with Rainbow and Rising Force, drummer Pete Holmes (Black n’ Blue), and returned with guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Finley and bassist Rev Jones. After Doogie White said a congratulatory ‘happy birthday’ to Schenker and also Finley, Schenker and the band kicked off the set with a new song off Bridge the Gap, “Neptune Rising”.

Schenker played through many classic Scorpions, UFO and MSG expected hits, and touched another new tune from Bridge the Gap, “Horizons”. The show was straight forward, no down time or talk time, just hard hitting punching classic rock and shredding guitar, as Schenker carved out solo after solo for an enthralled crowd of fans with everything from “Love Drive” to “Armed and Ready”. A great start to a tour that will take he and the band across the upper eastern US and back into California for extended dates before heading to Japan for the second leg of the tour.
