The Joint at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas presents Queens of the Stone Age.

The Joint was packed, the soldout show a sweaty, soulful, steely blend of QOTSA’s complex mix of driving solid rock, lyrical highs and contemplative lows, and melodic anthem-esque chants. The set started with the pounding riffs of “You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, but I Feel Like a Millionaire” then straight into radio giant “No One Knows” that sent the crowd over the top right from the get go to kick into 2 hours of in your face rock’n’roll. QOTSA mix muscle and melancholy, whether nailing the hard rock expectations from the first half hour on the stage, or heading into heavier territory with songs like”Kalopsia” or “The Vampyre of Time and Memory” where vocalist Josh Homme announced “I’m alive hooray”, a seeming reference to his brush with death a few years past. The crowd danced and dived with “If I Had a Tail” and “Make it Wit Chu”, and QOTSA ran the expanse of their heady supply of hits, ranging through decades of poetic diversity and musical stew to create a heady night to remember.
