Tom Keifer

Tom Keifer made a first appearance at Vamp’d Vegas to a packed house and a rowdy room of fans, the small club an intimate setting for the powerhouse voice of Keifer on this leg of his extended solo tour. Keifer ’s last LP, a solo album entitled The Way Life Goes, was released a couple years ago in 2013 and he has been on the road promoting it since. Not to say that the Cinderella frontman didn’t include a share of the hair band favorites from back on the day to the setlist, but there was a good mix of the old and the new for the Vegas near sold out show. Keifer moved on from the hair band anthems to a heavier blues base sound even during the latter Cinderella years, and it carries over into the blues and ballad infused tunes on The Way Life Goes.

Keifer started strong with “Falling Apart at the Seams” from Long Cold Winter, and switched back and forth seamlessly from old to new with “It’s Not Enough” and “Different Light” from the solo LP, before hard hitting Cinderella anthems “Save Me” and “Shake Me”. Not long into the set Keifer ’s wife Savannah joined him on stage to share vocals as the couple sat down, and slowed down for a power ballad miniset that started with “Flower Song” and “Ask Me Yesterday” from the solo cd, and Keifer then followed with “Don’t Know What You’ve Got” and Nobody’s Fool” from the Cinderella archives. The fans loved old and new, and the set was loud and strong throughout the night, with Keifer’s distinctive voice leading the touring band (Paul Simmons drums, Tony Higbee guitar, Paul Taylor keys, Bill Mercer bass) through to the powerful finale of “Little Help From My Friends” and finally “Gypsy Road” to close out the show.
