Eagles of Death Metal Bang-Banged-the-Boogie at Hard Rock Las Vegas

Eagles of Death Metal brought rock and roll revelry to a new high at their Friday Night Live Poolside show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. Vocalist/comedian/rock evangelist Jesse “the Devil” Hughes got the hips shaking and the hands pumping in the air with “I Only Want You”, and spent most of the first couple songs shaking hands, fist bumping and flirting with the crowd of fans pressed tight against the barricade for the show. It’s hard to put into words the high octane energy and verbal shenanigans of an EODM show, Hughes keeps a fast pace to the music as well as the revivalist banter, but his preaching tends to be more about gettin’ it on, gettin’ your boogie on, and where the band will be playing pool later in the wee hours if “y’all want to come on down…”

It would have been easy to fall into victim mode after the Paris attacks and EODM’s own terrifying experiences with the Bataclan tragedy, but Jesse and EODM are survivors and rock n roll is their sustenance. They kept up a frenetic pace throughout their rockabilly-meets-Russ Meyer set, and Hughes rampant sex appeal and good-ole boy banter interspersed with some good ole dirty rock and roll made for a night to remember.
